“Within your temple, O God, we meditate on your unfailing love.” (Psalm 48:9 NIV)
This is surely the answer to today’s troubles. We get busy living when we should be busy loving. We need to look to our Lord and learn from His unfailing love. When we meditate on who He is and how He loves, we remember who we are created to be.
Today, choose to fill your focus with His unfailing love. What comparison is there to our own affections? We waver like weak flames in a strong breeze, our love is subject to mood and circumstance. But God’s love is consistent. Constant. Powerful and steadfast like the sun.
“We love because he first loved us.” (1 John 4:19 NIV)
We find a well-spring of love in our Lord. If we will bend our knee and drink deeply we’ll find that we, also, will have strength enough to love our brother, our sister, our spouse, our offspring and our neighbor.
Lord, as we focus on Your love, it changes our love. You adjust the outflow of our own fuel source for loving. You lead the way towards treasuring others and we desperately need Your tutelage. Help us love like You. Amen.
